Fashion show will feature vintage wedding gowns


Love and Liberty, a bridal fashion show featuring wedding gowns and military uniforms from the past, will begin ay 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Christ Episcopal Church in downtown Ottawa. Many local brides and grooms who wed during the war years will have their wedding attire shown, followed by a "wedding reception" and vendor displays with wedding-themed wares at Reddick Mansion. Stories will be told about the brides and grooms who were married and then parted because of war. The style show also will celebrate Armed Forces Day by honoring the soldiers who served. The reception will be in the upstairs west parlors of the mansion with coffee and punch, featuring wedding cake by Martha Lushina, of Lushina"s Cakery in La Salle. Parlors will be decorated with wedding and military photos and memorabilia.
