Design students win award at fashion show


UW-Stout"s entry received the best makeup and hair award,one of seven awards given out. The contest had 27 entries, 24 of which were from professional designers and three from college teams. The show was held at the Aria in Minneapolis" Warehouse District and drew about 900 people. Entrants were challenged to create a clothing ensemble using materials and finishes from the building design industry,not from the clothing industry. This year"s theme was to design an entry inspired by Minnesota architecture or design. UW-Stout"s design was based on the Crystal Court in the IDS Tower in Minneapolis. UW-Stout"s design team had four students. "It was great being able to collaborate between interior design students and an apparel student. One thing we learned from this project is that collaboration is everything. "The show was a great way for us to experience life in the interior design industry.
