Success for model Emma

An aspiring catwalk queen is celebrating getting to the final stages of a modelling competition. Emma Ward,20,was selected as one of the final 14 girls to battle it out on Britain and Ireland"s Next Top Model. The former Spen Valley Sports College pupil has already got through two auditions and bootcamp, which was shown on the first episode on Sky Living last night. On the programme Emma found out she had made it to the final 14 and is now set to take on the others in a bid to impress celebrity judges Elle McPherson,Dannii Minogue and Tyson Beckford and win the competition. Emma although she had tried out modelling in the past, she had not had much success. "I got a full time job and got out of modelling. I auditioned twice before for the show, but didn"t get through so I didn"t want to do it this year." But her friend Demi Calvert pushed her to go for it and she decided to enter on the day of the auditions. "My mum and dad,"get in the car,we"re going" I did the audition but I didn"t think Id got through so I just carried on as normal." Emma screamed with joy when she found out she had got through while having a manicure! "Before the callbacks I"d had my hair done by the wrong hairdresser and it had gone yellow! And on the day I had a drink thrown over me so I had to quickly buy a new one. I was really nervous; after all that I thought it wasn"t meant to be." But despite her setbacks Emma got through to bootcamp with 28 other girls, shown last night. "We weren"t allowed to talk to any of the other girls in the hotel. We had photos taken and did a catwalk show and a make up free shoot which was all really nerve wracking". And when Emma found out she had got through to the final 14 she had mixed feelings. "I was happy, but I felt homesick and wasn"t sure if I was enjoying it. But having settled in, Emma is looking forward to the rest of the series. She added: "I"m still really nervous but I am excited. I"ve always wanted to be a model so hopefully I can make it happen it"s a dream come true.
